Sunny Leone was born in Sarnia, Ontario with the name Karen Malhotra. Her parents were Indian immigrants and raised Sunny as a Sikh. As a girl, she attended Catholic school and, prior to her adult entertainment career, worked at a German bakery, a Jiffy Lube, and a tax and retirement firm. She was eventually introduced to Jay Allen, a photographer for Penthouse magazine. Sunny posed and was named Penthouse Pet of the Month for March 2001. In 2003, she starred in the film Penthous Pets in Paradise with Tera Patrick and Kyla Cole. That same year, she was named Penthouse Pet of the Year. In 2005, she signed a three-year contract with Vivid Entertainment to perform exclusively girl-on-girl scenes. In May 2007, Sunny agreed to do her first scene with a man, but only with her long-time boyfriend. Later that year, she split from her boyfriend and proceeded to perform in scenes with several notable male performers. In August of 2008, she launched her own studio, Sunlust Studios, and released The Dark Side of the Sun. No longer working exclusively with Vivid, she will perform for other studios and star in a wide array of films, including one with Jenna Haze and Eva Angelina.
